Lakehead community meeting held on raising of Shasta Dam
The people of Lakehead voiced their concerns about the raising of Shasta Dam at Monday night's community meeting at the Lakehead Lion's Club. People are concerned about their homes and businesses, some of which could end up underwater when Shasta Dam is raised. Raising the dam will also raise the water level in Shasta Lake by 18 and-a-half feet. Congress approved $20 million for the effort, which has been dubbed the Shasta Dam Raise and Enlargement Project.

Lakehead businesses plan for dam raising
The community of Lakehead is seeking answers after learning some of it could be underwater within the next few years. Sugarloaf Cottages Resort has been open since the 1950's, making it one of the oldest resorts on Shasta Lake. It's also one of the few in Lakehead that is right on the water. A blessing to visitors now, but the location could be detrimental in the future. The Bureau of Reclamation has been raising funds to start raising Shasta Dam 18.
Lake, Shasta Disaster Recovery Centers Transitioning to SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) in Lake and Shasta counties will transition to U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOCs) on Monday, Sept. 17
SBA representatives will be available at the DLOCs to meet with businesses and residents affected by the wildfires and high winds that began July 23, 2018, to answer questions, explain SBA’s disaster loan program, help with completing SBA applications and close approved disaster loans

I-5 closed once again
The Interstate-5 is now closed once again due to a flare up in the Delta Fire. Closures are from Fawndale (northbound) and Mott Road (southbound), according to Caltrans District 2. At this time, it is uncertain when the highway will reopen again. Officials ask that travelers avoid the area.
